VdGS-NE Recording Secretary - Susan Potter

Susan Potter began to play the viol in the 1970s. While a graduate student at the University of Miami in Florida, she played recorder and viol in the university collegium and also in a small group that performed early music. She received her M.M. degree in 1978 and several years later moved to New Jersey to pursue doctoral studies in musicology at Rutgers University. After completing her doctorate in 1992, she had an adjunct teaching position in the music department at Rider University and was able to devote more time to studying the viol. Now that she is retired and living in Boston, she plays in several groups, much to her great delight.
